Hyderabad Food Joint - Tiwari Sweets

Location - Khairtabad Cross Roads

Almost every sweet shop in North india will have sweets made of 'shudh desi ghee', but such shops are scarce in Hyderabad. Tiwari Sweets is one such shop, where one can get sweets made of pure desi ghee.

It is not only a sweet shop but it also has a lot of fast food options, which are either typical rajasthani (like gatte ki sabji) or north indian or standard chat type foods - samosa, kachori etc. Almost everything is made of pure desi ghee and tastes wonderful (but quite heavy at the same time).

It can be tried as breakfast option on sundays, so that one can come back to home and sleep.

Hyderabad Food Joint - Eat Street

Location - Neclace Road
Things to eat - Chole Bhature, Jalebi and Coffee

I just realized that I have written enough reviews for restaurants but not a single one for a road side eatery / food joint. Eat Street is both a food joint and places to visit in Hyderabad. One can take a ferry ride from here to budda statue in husainsagar lake. Can be tried once if it is a pleasant evening.

There are various fast food options - from traditional chats like gol gappe to sophisticated fast foods like pizzas. One should definitely try chole bhature and jalebi. These have that typical north indian tastes.

In a way Eat Street represents indian culture. One can get food varierties from different parts of the country.

Those who do not like crowded places should not visit Eat Street on Sundays.

Hyderabad Restaurant - Waterfront

Location - Neclace Road
Cuisine - Multi cuisine
Things to order - Veg Platter

One of the good places to go with your date... good ambience, decent food and fabulous location.

The restaurant is located besides husainsagar lake. Though there is so much noise in the press about trash and stink in the lake, it does not bother with Waterfront as one has to sit in an AC environment and see through glasses. Thats makes it a fabulous location especially in the nights.

The restaurant is expensive (compared to normal standards), but one can ocassionally visit and enjoy a couple of drinks along with some good starters. Starters are better than the main course.

Hyderabad Restaurant - Celebrations

Location - Near Jubilee Check Post
Cuisine - Multi cuisine but mostly north indian

Open air restaurants can really appeal customers, especially when weather is good. In Hyderabad, temperatures may be soring in day-times, evenings / nights are generally pleasant.

Though Celebrations has close-door sitting as well, the open-air one is really appealing. Soothing lighting at the top increases the curiosity. It has got a nice ambience. One should take the corner seats to enjoy the view outside.

The restaurant has got good variety in starters and main course. Most of the things that we ordered were upto the expectation. One can try mushroom starters.

Overall, a good place to hang out.

Hyderabad Restaurant - Hotel Yatri Nivas

Location - Opp Anand Theatre, Secunderabad
Cuisine - Indian
Things to order - Veg Biryani, Jeera Alu, Egg Bhurji

Good place to have daru and simple food. It is not a very sophisticated place. Though there is a separate sitting for families so one can plan to go along with his family but real fun is in daru sessions in open area along with gossping about job, company, life etc. They also have a take-away facility.

I have eaten one of the best biryanis at Yatri Nivas.

Hyderabad Restaurant - Daspalla Hotel

Location - Jubilee Hills
Cuisine - South Indian

I heard that Daspalla is one of the famous restaurants / hotels in Vizag. So i had enough reasons to try this one.

The location is good. I ordered for south indian thali (thought it is safer as i would not have known various strange sounding dishes). Taste wise i would say it was OK. There are other joints in the city, which serve better south indian food. But i had one of the worst service expirience. I always feel that people, who are in service industry, shoud be on their toes to serve a customer. At least they should be communicating enough with their customers. I saw waiters / service people shying away from us. It took a good 1 & half hour to finish our thali. For some dishes, we just waited and waited but it was never served the second time.

The best thing that hotel can do is put a tag - "limited" food to be offered on thali.

Hyderabad Restaurant - Angeethi

Location - Road No 1, Banjara Hills
Cuisine - North Indian

My first experience with Angeethi was fabulous. When BJN Group opened its first ever restaurant in Mumbai (Vile Parle), I was one of the first ones to try. Because of this experience, I was curious to see other BJN group restaurants.

The angeethi in Hyderabad is not upto the mark in my opinion. It does have the variety that I expected. Somehow, ambience does not look very compelling to me. Though some of the north indian dishes are really good. It also serves biryani, which is tastier then a typical biryani served at south indian joints (i guess even if a restaurant is a north indian one in Hyderabad, it may have some typical dishes like biryani, curd rice etc.).

The pricing does not go well with what one get here. Prices are high, in my opinion.

Hyderabad Restaurant - Spicy Venue

Location - Road No 10, Jubilee Hills
Cuisine - Authentic Andhra

It just reminded me that my last 3 reviews were on north indian restaurants. Hyderabad may mind if i dont talk about andhra food..

Before i start my review, a point about its location. One should take a note that it is at road no 10 of Jubilee hills and not banjara hills.. autowalahs / drivers may conveniently take you to banjara hills.

those who dont know about andhra food can think of it as a food with lot of spices and strange sounding names.. for example pappu means dal..

rather than experimenting with my lil knowledge of andhra dishes, i usually order for veg thali.. it has a lot of vegetables, one roti (extra is charged) and unlimited rice.. have tried two other typical andhra food joints, this is the best among these.. the food is lil spicy.. (sometimes it is very spicy, did not understand why it is like that).. but it is damn tasty.. one should try only when he / she can eat rice..

have heard, for non-vegetarians it offers a grand treat with a lot of variety and taste..

pricing is reasonable...

Hyderabad Restaurant - Sahib Sindh Sultan

Location - City center, banjara hills
Cuisine - North Indian

Named after first 3 engines in our country, SSS is one of best restaurants in the city of nizams..

i give full marks to it for ambience.. it really feels like one is sitting in a proper concept type restaurant.. here the concept is that of a rail coach.

it serves authentic north indian food. One can order any dish, the taste and quality is guaranteed. Try hari mirch or lal mirch ka paratha if one really wants to spice up his life.

When BJN group opened its first restaurant in Mumbai called Angeethi, i was so impressed by its taste and variety and i found out what other restaurants that the group has and by looking at the information on SSS, I was waiting for having a glimpse of it..

Finally, my wait got over when i moved to Hyderabad.. this was one of the first restaurants that i tried.

Some people may argue that it is an expensive plance. I would say it is but worth spending sometimes..

Hyderabad Restaurant - Nihal Singh da Dhaba

Location - Hitech City
Cuisine - North Indian
Things to order - all types of paranthas

this is one of best place to have paranthas in the city of pearls as there are very less options otherwise.. finding this place is really an uphill task.. for those who wanna try .. this is behind my home hub in Hitech city..

the prices are lower than our expectation.. people preferring a hygiene type of place should not visit..

paranthas are awesome.... especially aloo and gobhi..

Hyderabad Restaurant - Casa Luxurio The Palatte

Location - Banjara Hills
Cuisine - North Indian

this is the latest restaurant that i visited.. was seeing a lot of ads in the newpapers.. one thing that really enticed me was the cocept of having a live ghazal performance.. this just reminded me of a fabulous restaurant in Mumbai called Golden Chariot..

another attractive thing in the restaurant was 1+1 offer on the liquor.. went there with an old college friend... the discounted price of liquor is really luring..

it really took some efftort before we could locate the restaurant.. for any new goer.. here is the direction.. please take the lane opposite to the entry gate of GVK one. and dont get confused when the road narrows down.. you will definitely see a beautifully constructed building..

starters were OK but the main course was good. dal makhni should be ordered..

Though live ghazal performance was good with a lot of old songs being sung .. it could have been better if it was an outdoor sitting as volume was a lil louder..

Restaurants in Hyderabad

I will attempt to provide feedback on various restaurants that I have visited..

let me start by telling what I like.. I love varieties of indian food.. like my food to be a lil "chatpata".. fond of eating at different places including road side joints..
